Where We Got Our Start
On May 17, 2008 Flying Pig opened its little green trailer in what was then known as the Hilander parking lot in Roscoe, IL selling our famous shaved ice. We've moved away from the parking lot, but our commitment to delicious and innovative treats remains!
Why "Flying Pig”?
When my children were small, our home was in Little Rock, Arkansas. We used to go to a little shaved ice stand there that had three little pigs painted on the side of it. Anytime the kids wanted shaved ice (which was all the time!), they would say “We want to go to the three little piggies”. These are such special memories for me, so when we decided to open one (on a lark, I might add!), I wanted to call it “The Three Little Piggies”. My husband thought he could improve on the name, so he came up with “Flying Pig”. The fact that he is a pilot and we are from Arkansas, where the Razorbacks rule, (Go Hogs!) played a key role in choosing Flying Pig as our “official” name.
